Advertising Platform
How advertising works on Indo Mail: the ad products, what we will and will not do with data, how ads are reviewed, which categories are prohibited or restricted in India, and how pricing and billing work.
1. Overview
Indo Mail lets businesses of every size reach people with simple, contextual advertising. The same account that gives you a mailbox also gives you access to the advertising tools: a single sign-in, one advertiser profile and one set of reports.
This document explains the products, the rules that protect people who see the ads, the rules that advertisers must follow, and how billing works. It applies to every campaign created in the Ads apps of Indo Mail, operated by INDO CHATS PRIVATE LIMITED.
2. The advertising products
Six advertising apps and two supporting tools are available from the app launcher, using one Indo Mail account.
| Product | What it does | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Indo Ads | Creates simple text and image ads and shows them in approved placements. | First-time advertisers who want to start quickly. |
| Ad Manager | Lets you see and control every campaign in one list: pause, resume, change budgets and add creatives. | Anyone running more than one campaign. |
| Search Ads | Shows your ad when the words a person searches for match the keywords you chose. | Businesses with a clear product or service. |
| Shopping Ads | Shows a product with its image and price, taken from your Merchant Center catalogue. The click goes to your own website. | Sellers with an online catalogue. |
| Local Services Ads | Shows your business to people in your service area and lets them send an enquiry with their name and phone number or email. | Plumbers, tutors, clinics, repair shops and other local providers. |
| Indo Chats Ads network | Serves the same contextual ads to other apps run by INDO CHATS PRIVATE LIMITED. No user data moves between apps. | Advertisers who want wider reach. |
| Marketing Platform | Shows reports across all your campaigns: impressions, clicks, conversions, leads and spend, by day. | Checking what is working. |
| Tag Manager | Counts conversions on your own website with a small script that uses no cookies. | Measuring sign-ups and purchases. |
You can read more about the Merchant Center and Manufacturer Center in the Shop & Commerce document, and about reporting in the Analytics document.
3. Contextual advertising only
Indo Mail ads are chosen using context, not people. When an ad is picked, the only inputs are the placement where the ad will appear, the country, the language, and the words on the page or search being viewed.
We do not use the content of anyone's email to choose ads. We do not use attachments, contacts, files, photos or any other personal data. We do not build advertising profiles, and we do not follow people across the web. No third-party advertising trackers run on Indo Mail.
- Ads never appear inside a message you are reading or writing.
- Ads are never inserted into messages that you send or receive.
- Every ad carries the label "Sponsored" so that nobody mistakes it for mail.
- Advertisers never receive names, addresses or contact details of people who see or click an ad. The only exception is a Local Services Ads enquiry, where the person chooses to send their own name and phone number or email to that business.
4. Who sees ads
Ads are shown only to people on the Free plan. Pro, Business and Enterprise accounts are ad-free, always. If you upgrade, ads stop for your account straight away.
Because ads support the free service, Free accounts see a small number of ads in the placements listed in the product. We keep the number small and never use pop-ups, full-screen takeovers or auto-playing sound.
5. Review before an ad runs
Every ad is reviewed before it is shown. When you add a creative to a campaign, its status is pending. A reviewer checks the headline, text, image and landing page against this document. The creative then becomes approved and starts to run, or rejected with a short note telling you why.
You can fix a rejected ad and submit a new creative. Repeated attempts to run prohibited content can lead to suspension of the advertiser account.
- The landing page must use a secure link starting with https://.
- The headline can have up to 60 characters; the body text up to 150 characters.
- The ad must clearly match the page it leads to. Misleading, hidden or changing destinations are not allowed.
- The advertiser must be able to prove the right to use any brand name, logo, photograph or music used in the ad.
6. What you may not advertise in India
Indian law decides much of this list. Ads that break any law, or that encourage others to break it, are not accepted. The following are prohibited on every Indo Mail advertising product:
- Betting, gambling, lotteries, casinos, fantasy-sports games played for money and any service that helps people take part in them.
- Political ads of any kind. See the separate Political Ads document.
- Prescription medicines, and any medicine sold or promoted without the licences that Indian law requires. Ads for unapproved cures or for claims that a product treats a serious disease are also not allowed.
- Tobacco, vaping products, e-cigarettes, and alcohol.
- Weapons, ammunition, explosives and instructions for making them.
- Illegal drugs and products that imitate them.
- Counterfeit goods, pirated content, and tools for breaking copyright or digital protections.
- Hacking, spyware, stalking tools, fake documents, and services that sell personal data.
- Adult sexual content and services, and any content that sexualises children.
- Hate speech, violence, harassment, or content that targets people for their religion, caste, gender, disability or nationality.
- Pyramid schemes, get-rich-quick offers, multi-level schemes that depend on recruiting, and "guaranteed return" investment schemes.
- Deceptive claims, fake reviews, fake countdown timers, fake giveaways and misleading before-and-after claims.
- Products and services that the law of India does not allow to be sold or advertised to the audience you choose.
7. Restricted categories
The following can be advertised only when the advertiser meets the conditions shown. We may ask for proof before approving the ad.
| Category | Conditions |
|---|---|
| Loans and credit | Only lenders regulated by the Reserve Bank of India (banks and registered non-banking financial companies, or their authorised agents). The ad must show the lender's name, and the full cost of credit must not be hidden. Loan apps without RBI-regulated backing are not allowed. |
| Cryptocurrency and digital assets | Not allowed to promise returns. Ads must show a clear risk warning, must follow current law, and must come from an advertiser whose business is lawful in India. Ads for initial offerings of tokens, and for products that promote leverage to retail users, are not accepted. |
| Investments and insurance | Only advertisers authorised by the regulator concerned, such as SEBI or IRDAI. Registration details must appear in the ad or on the landing page. |
| Health, fitness and wellness services | Allowed when claims are honest and the provider holds the licences the law requires. No cure claims and no before-and-after photographs of medical results. |
| Education and jobs | Allowed when the offer is real. Fees must be disclosed, and ads may not promise jobs, visas or certain results. |
| Dating and matrimony | Allowed for services that verify members and follow Indian law. No explicit content. |
| Food and dietary supplements | Allowed when the seller holds a valid FSSAI licence and the ad follows the labelling rules. |
| Real estate | Allowed when the project is registered under the applicable real-estate law and the registration number is shown. |
All ads must also follow the Code for Self-Regulation of Advertising Content in India published by the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) and the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. Where ASCI guidelines are stricter than the rules above, the stricter rule applies.
8. Advertiser responsibilities
- Give accurate business details when you create your advertiser profile, including your business name, billing email and country. You may add your GSTIN so that invoices show it.
- Make only claims you can prove, and keep the proof ready in case we or a regulator ask for it.
- Respect the law on influencer and paid promotion: say clearly when a post is an advertisement.
- Do not click your own ads or ask others to do so. Do not use bots or any method that creates false clicks. We refund spend that we find to be invalid.
- Treat leads fairly. Contact details that people send through Local Services Ads may be used only to reply to that person's request, and never sold or shared.
- Follow the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025 when you handle personal data from leads or from your own website.
9. Prices, budgets and bidding
Indo Mail ads work on a pay-per-click basis. You pay only when someone clicks your ad, not when the ad is shown.
| Item | Rule |
|---|---|
| Cost per click (CPC) | You set the most you will pay for a click. The lowest allowed is ₹1.00. |
| Daily budget | The lowest daily budget is ₹100. Once a campaign reaches its daily budget, its ads stop for the rest of the day. |
| Campaign types | Indo Ads, Search, Shopping and Local Services campaigns each have their own list in Ad Manager. |
| Objective | Choose traffic, leads, sales or awareness. The objective helps you read your reports; it does not change the price. |
| Targeting | Country, language, keywords (Search) and service area (Local Services). No targeting by personal data. |
| Dates | Start and end dates are optional. You can pause, resume or end a campaign at any time. |
Prices are in Indian rupees and exclude 18% GST, which is added on invoices.
10. Billing
Advertising uses a prepaid advertiser balance in rupees. Each click reduces the balance by your CPC for that campaign. Your balance, your spend and your clicks are visible in the Marketing Platform.
Indo Mail does not hold your money in a wallet and is not a bank. Online checkout for plan purchases and balance top-ups will use an RBI-authorised payment aggregator once our contract with one is complete. Until then, our billing team arranges top-ups directly. Write to billing@indoemail.in.
Invoices include GST at the rate that applies, our GSTIN and, if you gave it, your GSTIN. If you believe a charge is wrong, write to billing@indoemail.in within 30 days of the charge and we will review it and correct genuine errors.
Advertisers in Iran, Cuba and Syria cannot pay for services, and the service is blocked entirely in North Korea. This follows sanctions that apply to us.
11. Measuring results
The Marketing Platform shows impressions, clicks, conversions, leads and spend for each day across your campaigns, for the last 7 to 90 days. To count conversions on your website, add the Tag Manager script. It counts events such as a completed sign-up and nothing else: no cookies are set and no identifiers or personal data are collected.
12. Enforcement
If an ad or advertiser breaks these rules, we may reject the ad, pause a campaign, end a campaign, suspend the advertiser account or, for serious cases, report the matter to the authorities. We tell you the reason unless the law stops us from doing so. You can appeal a decision by writing to ads@indoemail.in with the campaign name and the reason you think the decision was wrong. We reply within seven days.
13. Changes
We may update these rules as the law, the products or abuse patterns change. If a change affects running campaigns, we notify advertisers by email before it starts, except when an urgent legal reason requires faster action.
14. Contact
Questions about advertising: ads@indoemail.in. Billing questions: billing@indoemail.in. To report an ad that breaks these rules, write to abuse@indoemail.in with a screenshot and the page where you saw it.
