Indo Photos: privacy and terms
Indo Photos is part of Indo Mail, run by INDO CHATS PRIVATE LIMITED. It is for photo and video backup and albums. This page explains, for Indo Photos only, what it keeps and the extra rules that apply. It adds to our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
Privacy notice
What Indo Photos keeps
- The photos and videos you upload or back up from your phone, and their date, size and place details if the photo has them.
- Albums, favourites, archive, and the people you invite to see your photos or share an album with.
- The locked folder: the photos you move into it, and your PIN in scrambled form (we cannot read it).
- Copies you save after editing a photo. Edits are made in your browser.
- Collages and animations you make. They are made in your browser from the photos you pick and saved as new photos or videos.
- Trimmed and edited copies of your videos (rotation, brightness, contrast and colour). They are made in your browser and saved as new videos; the original is kept.
- Face groups, only if you turn them on: faces are found in your browser, and the face measurements are kept in your account so the groups work on your other devices.
Who can see it
- You, and the people you invite or share an album with.
- Photos in the locked folder are seen by no one else. They are left out of albums, sharing, search, memories and HexAI, and open only after your PIN is entered.
- Indo Mail staff do not look at your content, except when you ask us for help, to stop abuse, or when the law requires it.
How long it is kept
- Photos stay until you delete them.
- Turning face groups off deletes all face data at once.
- If you forget the locked folder PIN, you can set a new one with your Indo Mail password.
- If you close your Indo Mail account, everything this app keeps is deleted 30 days later (a grace period in case the closure was a mistake or a hacker). Copies in our backups are overwritten within 35 days after that.
- Some records are kept longer only where the law says so, for example invoices (8 years) and sign-in records (1 year). See the Data Retention Policy.
Your choices
- Turn phone backup on or off, and choose photos, videos, contacts and Wi-Fi only (Settings › Backup and sync on the phone).
- Share an album with people by email, remove them, or leave an album shared with you.
- Move photos into or out of the locked folder.
- Turn face groups on or off.
- Choose a comfortable or compact view in Settings › Indo Photos.
- All of Indo Photos's settings are in one place: Indo Photos settings.
Where it is kept
- Your data is kept on Indo Mail servers in India. We do not sell it, and we do not use it for advertising.
Questions
Write to our Grievance Officer at grievance@indoemail.in. You can also ask to see, correct or delete your data, as the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 allows.
Additional terms
These terms apply when you use Indo Photos. They add to the Indo Mail Terms of Service. If the two differ, these terms apply to Indo Photos.
- Only upload photos you have the right to keep. Ask people before sharing photos of them.
- We keep improving Indo Photos and may add, change or remove features. If a change takes away something important, we will tell you in advance where we can.
