Creator Monetization
How writers, educators and small businesses can earn with Indo Mail today through direct UPI payment requests and their own websites, what is planned, and the tax duties that remain theirs.
1. What Indo Mail offers and does not offer
Indo Mail is an email and productivity service of INDO CHATS PRIVATE LIMITED. It does not run a creator fund, an ad revenue share, virtual gifts, coins, tipping, live streams or a marketplace. Indo Mail does not pay anyone for content and does not collect money on anyone's behalf.
What Indo Mail does give writers, educators and small businesses is a set of tools that help them get paid directly by their own readers and customers, or sell on their own website. This page explains those tools, what is planned, and the tax and legal duties that stay with you.
| Way to earn | Status | Who holds the money |
|---|---|---|
| UPI payment requests through Wallet | Live | Paid straight from the payer's bank to your UPI ID. Indo Mail never holds it. |
| Selling on your own website, promoted with Merchant Center and Shopping Ads | Live | Your own payment set-up on your website |
| Business Profile page to show your services and contact details | Live | Not applicable, it is a listing page |
| Paid newsletter subscriptions | Planned | Will be collected through an RBI-authorised payment aggregator |
| Creator payouts, gifts, coins or revenue share from Indo Mail | Not offered | Not applicable |
2. UPI payment requests with Wallet
Wallet lets you create a payment-request link or QR code in Indian rupees, linked to your own UPI ID. You can put the link in an email, for example in an invoice for a course fee or a request for a reader contribution, or show the QR code at an event.
- You enter your UPI ID once in Wallet settings, then create a request with an amount in INR and a short note.
- The payer opens the link or scans the code in their own UPI app and approves the payment with their own UPI PIN.
- The money moves directly from the payer's bank account to yours through the UPI network. Indo Mail is not in the flow of funds.
- Indo Mail takes no fee and no cut from these payments.
- You can mark a request as paid or cancelled in Wallet so you can keep track of who has paid.
Indo Mail is not a bank, wallet issuer or payment aggregator. We never see UPI PINs or bank passwords and we cannot reverse, refund or hold a UPI payment. If something goes wrong with a transfer, the payer should contact their own bank or UPI app, and you should settle any refund directly with the payer.
3. Selling on your own website
If you sell books, courses, merchandise or services on your own website, Indo Mail can help buyers find you. Indo Mail does not host a checkout and does not take orders. The sale happens on your site, under your own terms and your own payment provider.
- Merchant Center holds your product catalogue: title, description, price in INR including taxes, image, availability and a link to the product page. You can add items one by one or import a CSV file.
- Shopping Ads show your products as contextual ads to Free plan users and send clicks to your own website. You pay per click from ₹1, with a minimum daily budget of ₹100, plus GST.
- Tag Manager lets you count conversions on your site without cookies, so you can see which ads lead to sales.
- Manufacturer Center is for brand owners who want to publish verified product information.
See the Shop & Commerce page for seller obligations and prohibited products.
4. Business Profile
Your Business Profile is a free public page on indoemail.in that lists what you do, your contact details, address and hours. Many writers and tutors use it as a simple landing page in their email signature. Paid-plan organisations can add the verified business badge for ₹1,499 a year plus GST after a verification check. The badge shows readers that your identity has been confirmed, which helps when you ask them to pay you.
5. Planned: paid newsletter subscriptions
We plan to let senders offer paid subscriptions to their newsletters. This is not live and we give no launch date. The planned design is:
- Readers pay a monthly or yearly fee that you set, in INR.
- Payments are collected by an RBI-authorised payment aggregator that we contract with, not by Indo Mail itself.
- Settlement goes from the aggregator to your bank account, after the aggregator's charges and any fee we announce in advance.
- Readers can cancel at any time, and refund rules will follow the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
- You will need to complete identity and bank checks required by the aggregator before you can accept payments.
We will publish full terms, fees and a separate agreement before this feature opens. Until then, please do not tell readers that paid subscriptions through Indo Mail are available.
6. Your tax responsibilities
Money you earn from readers or customers is your income. Indo Mail does not deduct or pay tax on your behalf for payments made through Wallet or on your website, because we never receive that money. You are responsible for:
- Income tax on your earnings under the Income-tax law of India, including advance tax where it applies, and keeping proper records of receipts.
- GST registration and returns if your turnover crosses the threshold that applies to you, or if registration is compulsory for your type of supply, under the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 and the matching State law.
- Issuing correct tax invoices to your customers where required.
- Any tax duties in other countries if you have readers or buyers abroad.
We recommend that you speak to a chartered accountant or tax adviser. Nothing on this page is tax advice. When paid subscriptions launch, the aggregator and Indo Mail may have their own reporting or tax-collection duties, and we will explain them in the terms for that feature.
7. Rules for asking people to pay
- Be honest about what the payment is for, how much it is and whether it is a one-time payment or recurring.
- Do not present a payment request as a bill or fine from a bank, government body or any organisation you do not represent.
- Do not use Wallet for gambling, betting, lotteries, chit funds, unregulated deposits, crypto-asset trading or any other activity that is illegal in India or needs a licence you do not hold.
- Do not use Wallet to collect donations for a cause you are not authorised to raise money for. NGOs should follow the rules that apply to them, including foreign contribution rules where relevant.
- Deliver what you promised, and handle refund requests from your own customers fairly. Consumers have rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 even when the seller is a small business.
- Respect sanctions. Indo Mail paid features and payments are not available in Iran, Cuba or Syria, and the service is blocked entirely in North Korea.
Misuse of Wallet or payment requests for fraud is reported to the authorities and leads to immediate suspension. Report suspicious payment requests to abuse@indoemail.in.
8. What Indo Mail is not responsible for
Because payments under this page go directly between you and your readers or customers, Indo Mail is not a party to those transactions. We are not responsible for failed or wrong UPI transfers, disputes about goods or services, refunds you owe to your customers, or tax you owe. We do act on complaints about fraud or misuse of our tools, under our Terms of Service and the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.
