Know Your Data Centre
Where Indo Mail runs, where your data is stored, and how it is protected and backed up.
1. Where Indo Mail runs
| Part of Indo Mail | Where it runs |
|---|---|
| Web server and database | Amazon Lightsail instance in the AWS Asia Pacific (Mumbai) region, ap-south-1 |
| Drive, Photos and attachments | Amazon S3 in Mumbai, encrypted at rest with AES-256 |
| Outgoing email | Amazon SES in Mumbai, with SPF, DKIM and DMARC for indoemail.in |
| Nightly backups | Compressed database copies in Amazon S3 in Mumbai, kept for 14 days |
| Lily writing help | Amazon Bedrock through its India-only route, so requests stay in India |
| Translate and Maps | Amazon Translate and Amazon Location Service in Mumbai |
2. Physical security
Amazon Web Services runs the data centres, with controlled entry, guards, video monitoring and audited procedures. AWS holds certifications including ISO/IEC 27001 and SOC 2. INDO CHATS staff have no physical access.
3. Protection in transit and at rest
- Every connection to indoemail.in uses HTTPS (TLS) with HSTS.
- Mail between servers uses STARTTLS whenever the other side supports it.
- Files are encrypted at rest in Amazon S3.
- Mail between Indo Mail accounts is end-to-end encrypted by default.
4. Monitoring and recovery
Every service is checked automatically and shown at indoemail.in/status. A full daily check runs between 2 pm and 3 pm India time. The database is backed up every night; our Disaster Recovery plan sets out how we restore service.
5. Data outside India
Your data stays in India. It leaves India only when you send mail to, or share with, someone whose service is abroad, or for the short transits described in section 13 of our Data Protection Policy.
