Indo Mail is standard email. You can write to and receive from any other email service, and use Indo Mail in the mail app you already like.

SMTPports 465 and 587
25 MBper message
500recipients a day
Other email services

Send and receive with anyone.

Your @indoemail.in address works with every other email service in the world. Mail you send is signed with DKIM and covered by our SPF and DMARC records, which helps it reach the inbox rather than the spam folder. Mail sent to you arrives from any service that sends standard email.

Sending

Messages leave from our sending servers in Mumbai, signed with DKIM. Replies, forwarding, attachments and calendar invitations all work with other services.

Receiving

We accept mail from every service, check it for spam, phishing and risky attachments such as programs and macro documents, and sort it into your inbox tabs.

Encryption

Mail to other services is protected in transit with TLS when their server supports it. End-to-end encryption works only between Indo Mail accounts.

Mail apps

Use Indo Mail in your mail app.

Any mail app on a phone or computer that supports IMAP can use Indo Mail.

SettingValue
Incoming mail (IMAP) servermail.indoemail.in
IMAP port and security993, SSL/TLS
Outgoing mail (SMTP) servermail.indoemail.in

User nameYour full Indo Mail address
PasswordAn app password, not your account password
POP3Not offered. IMAP keeps your mail in step on every device

App passwords: make one in Settings → Mail apps for each app you use. Mail apps never see your real password, so 2-Step Verification stays strong, and you can remove one app’s access without changing your password. Deleting a message in a mail app moves it to Trash, where it stays for 30 days.

Limits

The numbers.

LimitAmount
Size of one message, including attachments25 MB
Attachments per messageUp to 20 files
Bigger filesShare them from Indo Drive with a link instead
Recipients you can send to in 24 hours500
Recipients in 24 hours, for accounts in their first 7 days50
Addresses that bounced as “does not exist”Not mailed again for 30 days

Limits stop stolen or throw-away accounts from sending spam, which keeps mail from every Indo Mail user arriving in inboxes.

When mail bounces

Why a message came back.

What the bounce saysWhat it meansWhat to do
Address does not exist / user unknownThe address is wrong or the account was closedCheck the spelling. We will not try that address again for 30 days
Mailbox fullThe person is out of storageTry later or contact them another way
Message too largeOver 25 MB, or over the other service’s own limitSend a Drive link instead of the attachment
Rejected as spam / blockedThe other service did not trust the messageAvoid link shorteners and large mailing lists from a personal account. Tell support if it keeps happening
Daily sending limit reachedYou reached 500 recipients (50 for new accounts) in 24 hoursWait and try again. Business accounts can ask sales about higher limits
Delivery delayedThe other server did not answer yetNothing. We keep trying for about 5 days, tell you if it is taking long, and tell you if we give up
Business domains

SPF, DKIM and DMARC.

Using Indo Mail on your own domain? Add these records at the company where you bought the domain. The admin console shows the exact values for your domain and checks them for you.

RecordWhat it doesWhere to find the value
MXSends mail for your domain to Indo MailAdmin console → DNS setup & verification
SPF (TXT)Lists the servers allowed to send for your domainAdmin console → DNS setup & verification
DKIM (TXT)A signature that proves mail really came from your domainAdmin console → DNS setup & verification
DMARC (TXT)Tells other services what to do with mail that fails SPF and DKIMStart with p=none, then move to quarantine once all is green

Changes can take up to 48 hours to spread. The DNS check in the admin console turns green for each record once it is found.

Keep out of spam folders

Tips for good delivery.

  • Write from your real name, with a clear subject.
  • Ask people to add your address to their contacts.
  • Do not send the same message to hundreds of people from a personal account; use a mailing service built for newsletters.
  • Avoid link shorteners and attachments people did not expect.
  • If a message of yours lands in someone’s spam, ask them to mark it “Not spam”.
